Why Volunteering Matters
The Lighthouse Project exists to be a steady presence for people who may be feeling lost, overwhelmed, or isolated. Our volunteers are at the heart of this offering time, understanding, and human connection when it’s needed most.
Volunteering with us isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about showing up, listening, and being part of a supportive community that believes no one should face difficult moments alone.
Many of our volunteers have lived experience themselves, while others simply want to give something back. Both are equally valued.

What Volunteering Means
To us, volunteering means:
Creating a safe, welcoming space for everyone
Offering kindness, empathy, and respect
Supporting people at their own pace
Being part of a team that looks after one another
Strengthening our local community together
Whether you’re helping behind the scenes or supporting sessions directly, every role plays a part in keeping the light on for others.
Types of Volunteering
Opportunities may include:
Supporting community sessions or groups
Helping with welcoming and signposting
Assisting with events or activities
Behind-the-scenes support
Sharing skills, experience, or ideas
No matter the role, you’ll be supported, valued, and never expected to do more than you’re comfortable with.
