The Lighthouse Project was founded in January 2020 by Dawn Parkin, who returned to her hometown after 35 years of service in the British Army, guided by a strong faith in Christ and a clear calling to serve her community.

The project began with a simple belief that people need more than services; they need compassion, dignity, and a place where they are seen and supported. From the outset, The Lighthouse Project was created to meet practical needs wherever possible and to guide people towards further support when needed.

The project has grown from strength to strength and will continue to be a safe space for all those in our communities that need it.

The Story Behind The Lighthouse Project

This short film, created by Interlink RCT, in 2021 follows the journey of the Lighthouse Project through a real community story. It explores how the project began, why it was needed, and the people at the heart of its development. By sharing the voices and experiences of those involved, the video shows how local collaboration and understanding shaped a space where support feels natural, welcoming and rooted in the community it serves.
